US Under Secretary of State (Designate) for Political Affairs Thomas Shannon who arrived in Sri Lanka on Dec.14 is visiting USAID-funded livelihoods project in the Eastern Province.
Ambassador Shannon will meet with senior government and parliamentary leaders, business leaders, and civil society members.
During his visit, Ambassador Shannon will reaffirm U.S. support for Sri Lanka’s reform agenda and explore greater cooperation in development, security, economic growth, and regional connectivity, the US Embassy in Colombo said .
Former Chairman of SriLankan Airlines, Nishantha Wickramasinghe, arrested on allegation of corruption by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has been remanded until July 1 by the Colombo Magistrate court.
