Life in Dambulla town returned to normal this morning (20) after the curfew was lifted.
Vegetable prices at the Dambulla Special Economic Centre also fell drastically this morning owing to vehicles carrying large stocks of vegetables making their way to the centre.
Traders at the centre say they have not seen such a bountiful vegetable harvest in many years and say the public is fortunate to be able to vegetables at such low prices during a pandemic.
Following is the wholesale price of a kilo of some vegetables in Dambulla today: Beans - Rs 40-50, Cabbage - Rs 20-30, Tomatoes - Rs 10-20, Carrot - Rs 50-60, Pumpkin - Rs 35-40.
Many commercial establishments such as saloons and bakeries also opened across town today after one month.
There was a heavy presence of traffic police officers along the main roads and byroads in town.
