The vehicle of the Civil Security Department's Director General caught fire this afternoon due to a technical issue, Kanagarayankulam Police said.
According to the Police, the fire had erupted while inspecting a technical fault in the vehicle.
The vehicle is reported to have been completely destroyed due to the fire.
However, Director General Chandraratna Pallegama and the other passengers in the vehicle had escaped unhurt, police noted.
Kanagarayankulam Police are investigating further into the incident.
