Amidst a large gathering Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera’s cremation ceremony concluded a short while ago at Parliament Grounds in Battaramulla.
The government chose to bid farewell to the late thera under full state honours. President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Spealer of the House Karu Jayasuriya, Parliamentarians, Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike and ambassadors took part in the ceremony.
Addressing the crown President Sirisena said Ven. Sobitha Thera had a vision to abolish the Executive Presidency. He pledged that he will sacrifice whatever he must to fulfill his dream.
