The Appeal Court will announce its verdict pertaining to the petition filed against the parliamentary position of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on May 21.
This was announced by the two-member judge bench comprising Justices Priyantha Fernando and Shiran Gunathilaka before whom the case is being heard.
Court also announced that all written submissions pertaining to the preliminary objections of the case must be filed by April 01.
The petition was filed by Colombo Municipal Council member Sharmila Gonawela claiming that Prime Minister Wickremesinghe who is a shareholder of Lake House Printers (Pvt) Ltd. cannot function as a parliamentarian since Article 91 (1) (e) of the constitution forbids any parliamentarian to enter into trade agreements with the government.
