Former Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Vignesawaran has said that a UN office must be established in the North to ensure that justice for war victims is achieved.
He said that the UN office must be set-up to investigate into war crimes, human rights violations and allegations of enforced disappearances during the war.
The former Chief Minister also claimed that the government has destroyed the reputation of the UN human rights council by acting against the Geneva resolution and the investigations into war crimes.
He made this remarks during a protest that was held in Kilinochchi by the Tamil Makkal Kootani party yesterday demanding that justice be delivered to the families of war victims.
