Vigneswaran demands resignations of two NPC Ministers
Northern Province Chief Minister (CM) C.V. Vigneswaran at a special council meeting held today at Kaithady, demanded that two Provincial Ministers resign over allegations of corruption and abuse of power.
The two Provincial Ministers are Education, Sports and Culture Minister T. Gurukularaja and Agriculture Minister P. Ingaranesan.
He also demanded that the remaining two Ministers - Transport Minister P. Deniswaran and Health Minister P. Sathyalingam, go on leave until a probe into allegations against them are completed.
While the CM was making his statement in the Provincial Council, PC Members of Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) walked out. Council was adjounred till June 22.
Last year, the CM appointed a three-member committee, including two retired judges to probe allegations of corruption and abuse of power against all four Provincial Ministers. Their report was tabled in the council recently. (PCK)
