Vijayananda Herath has been appointed as the Prime Minister's Media Secretary.
Mr Herath also served as the Presidential Media Coordinating Secretary during Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa's tenure as President.
Vijayananda Herath has also served as the Media Officer of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources while Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse was the Minister of Labor and Vocational Training.
He is also the Media Advisor to the Media Center of the People's Alliance.
Former State Minister Lohan Ratwatte passed away today while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo, his family said. He was 57. Recently, he was admitted to hospital following an illness.
