More than 50 percent vote turnout has been recorded in seven districts by 12 pm, district secretaries said.
These districts are Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, and Polonnaruwa.
Meanwhile, Police Secretariat Chief DIG Sarath Peiris said that no incidents of violence have been reported so far.
Voting began countrywide at 7 am and will end at 5 pm.
