Two schoolgirls in Mullativu, who were disabled during the war, have excelled at the 2019 GCE Ordinary Level Examination.
Gangadaran Bhawadarani and Madiyalagan Vidurshika, both students at Kalaimahal Vidyalayam in Mulliyawalai, obtained the best O/Level results in the district.
Bhawadarani obtained Eight A passes and one B pass at the examination while her friend Vidurshika obtain six A passes, one B pass and two C passes.
Bhawadarani was left disabled after being caught in shelling during the final stage of the war in 2009. She also lost her father due to shelling, resulting in her mother taking on the task of bringing up her family. She excelled at the exams overcoming extreme economic difficulties.
Vidurshika too was left disabled after being caught in shelling during that last stage of the war. She too has managed to rebuild her life with her parents and pass the exam with flying colours.
