Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Nuwan Wedasinghe has been appointed as the DIG-in-charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
He is currently serving as the DIG for the Galle District.
DIG Wedasinghe is expected to assume duties at his new office next week.
Meanwhile, Senior DIG Ravi Senaviratne who was serving as the DIG-in-charge of the CID is set to retire at the end of this month.
