Will form administration that is concerned about the country : Minister Arjuna Ranatunga
Minster Arjuna Ranatunga says if his side wins at the upcoming SLC elections that he would form an administration and a cricket team that puts the country first.
Addressing a sporting event in Udugampola he also warned that he would remove players who didnot perform and were concerned with only benefitting themselves.
“The world cup is just a few months away. The possibility of the Sri Lankan cricket team winning the world cup has now become questionable," he said while emphasising that cricket has slumped to a dangerous situation.
“I stayed away from cricket for many years. This cannot be continued anymore” the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation declared. He explained that it was due to this reason that he chose to contest at the upcoming cricket elections.
Mr. Ranatunga added that there might be certain individuals belonging to the faction from which he is contesting. However, he claimed that there are no match fixers, and individuals who loot the institution in his faction.
He also said that he would uncover the individuals who had looted the funds of the SLC.
Further, the Minister said that the mentality of the cricketers must be changed before the world cup.
“I am capable of contesting for the post of President. However, the cricket laws do not permtit me to do that. Therefore, I am contesting for the post of Vice-President” he remarked.
