A 32-year-old woman and her three-year-old son have died after they were run over by a cab near a junction on the Padeniya-Anuradhapura road, police said.
The mother and son have died on admission to the Mahawa hospital. Police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the driver and two others who were in the cab have fled the scene while eight persons who were inside the vehicle have been arrested.
A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
