A woman who was arrested in Navagamuwa by the CID for defrauding individuals under the pretext of sending them to Canada for employment has been remanded until December 21.
The order was issued when the case was taken up before the Kaduwela Magistrates Court today (Dec 18).
Meanwhile, police are on the hunt to arrest another suspect involved in the incident who is reported to be a film actor.
The suspect was nabbed with 72 passports, 50 bank pass books, 50 ATM cards, Rs 50,000 cash, jewellery worth Rs. 2.6 million and a vehicle that is alleged to have been purchased using the illegal money.
Police say that the suspect had shaved her head in a bid to conceal her identity at the time of the arrest.
