A woman who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Wadduwa yesterday for spreading false information on social media concerning the COVID-19 outbreak has been remanded in custody till April 9.
Police Media Unit stated that the suspect was produced before the Colombo Magistrate's Court yesterday where she was ordered to be placed in remand custody till April 9.
Police warned that action will be taken to arrest and initiate legal action against anyone spreading false information on social media and those who share such information.
