A women's support helpline to report all forms of discrimination against women, including harassment, abuse and instances of violation of the law and complaints, has been approved by the Cabinet.
Accordingly, such complaints could be reported from anywhere in the island to the 1938 hotline which is to remain available 24hours to assist in in emergency responses.
A proposal to this effect had been put forward by the Women Affairs Minister Chandrani Bandara this week.
