A member of the Western Provincial Council has been arrested today (Dec 26) over an alleged financial fraud of Rs 72 million.
The suspect was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department, police sources said.
Sources claim that the suspect is a councillor by the name of Shanmuganathan Kugawardhan.
