A youth was killed yesterday in an accident which occurred on the Thalawathugoda Hokandara road.
The accident took place when a car driving towards Thalawathugoda attempted to overtake a vehicle following which an oncoming bicycle lost control and collided with the vehicles.
The deceased was a 19-year-old resident of Madiwala.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
