The Ministry of Power and Energy said that Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) would reduce power cuts during the weekends due to increase in hydro power generation as a result of prevailing weather situation.
The Minister In charge Kanachana Wijesekera said that they have decided to reduce power cuts during weekends due to the low demand on weekends as well as increase of power generation.
He added that if rains continue to the catchment areas CEB will keep the power cuts to a minimum. However he also added that CEB would also manage water resources available for future power generation.
