Three members of Sri Lanka women's cricket team, currently in Zimbabwe to compete in the IC Women's World Cup Qualifiers, have tested positive for COVID-19, according to reports.
The three players were detected as COVID positive after a PCR test conducted on Sunday (21) while the rest of the squad had been tested negative.
A top official of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) stated that the three players have been isolated and are currently in quarantine, while the rest of the squad are continuing with the preparations for the upcoming games.
According to the new guidelines provided by the ICC, a team could have a list of backup players as standbys, to come in as replacements in case any player in the main squad is tests positive for COVID.
The management of the Women's cricket team have already made a request to the ICC to call in three standby players as replacement for the three tested positive.
Sri Lanka will face the Netherlands today in their first game of the Women's World Cup Qualifiers and will take on West Indies on Saturday (27) before playing against Ireland next Monday (29).
