Sport

Sri Lanka fast bowler Dhammika Prasad announced his retirement from international cricket today (18) at a formal event held at his club, the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC).

While thanking all who supported his career right throughout from the beginning, Prasad stated that he would focus on grooming the fast bowlers of next generation, during the coming domestic cricket season at the SSC.

"I'm focusing on building up my career as a coach, and my services will be always available for Sri Lanka at any given time," Prasad told reporters.

He represents Sinhalese Sports Club at domestic level for the past 18 years.

Prasad, 37, has played 25 Tests, 24 One Day Internationals and a Twenty20 representing the country.

The last time he played for Sri Lanka was in 2015 against the West Indies in a Test series and was not recalled since then due to a shoulder injury.

In Tests, Prasad has a tally of 75 wickets and 41 out of them came in 2015 during nine matches.

He has claimed 32 ODI wickers and from 130 first class games has a tally of 351 wickets.
