An online meeting initiated by the President of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL), Anura de Silva, was conducted via Zoom to understand and discuss the pros and cons forwarded by the 10 participating clubs in launching the Super League at the end of January.
The online meeting was conducted on January 6.
Members of Blue Eagles, Blue Star SC, Colombo FC, Defenders FC, New Youngs FC, Ratnam SC, Red Star SC, Renown SC, Sea Hawks FC, and Upcountry Lions SC participated in the online meeting which started at 7.00pm and carried on for over two hours.
Eight out of the 10 clubs stated they will be ready to play by the end of January.
Whereas Ratnam SC and Renown SC, two clubs from Kotahena, from the area which was under lockdown till very recently, expressed their concerns with the starting date as they have not been able to train their squads properly.
In the coming days, the FFSL will hold an emergency meeting with these two clubs to understand how it can help and support them to get ready in time.
Following that, FFSL will have an internal meeting to finalise tournament details such as the health regulations, ground specifics and schedules.
