Mattegoda Malay Association together with the Sri Lanka Malay Confederation, the holding body for Malay Associations in Sri Lanka, will organise an All-Island Malay Badminton Tournament on March 24.
This is the first time an All-Island Malay Badminton Tournament will be held in Sri Lanka.
The tournament will be held at the St. Joseph’s College Indoor Badminton Complex.
About 100 Shuttlers from Malay Associations islandwide, are expected to participate in this inaugural tournament.
This will be an Annual event and will be conducted in 3 categories namely, Under-15 Boys and Girls (Singles & Doubles), Men and Women Open (Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles), Men and Women Veterans [Over 40 years (Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles).
Winners and Runners-up of each category will receive Cash awards and Medals, and Trophies and Certificates.
In addition, the organisers intend to present 2 Return Air Tickets to Malaysia for the Men’s and Women’s Singles champs, while all participants will receive Certificates of Participation.
The objective of this tournament is to promote Badminton among the Malay youth of Sri Lanka.
