Sri Lanka Navy, Old Royalists, Ranabima Royal and Sri Lanka Army have already qualified for the Sri Lanka Baseball Championship which is currently underway at the Sri Lanka-Japan Friendship Baseball ground in Diyagama, Homagama.
The fourth installation of the Sri Lanka Baseball Championship got underway last weekend with the participation of 10 teams.
The teams include four each from the segments of Division 'A' and 'B' who are top ranked and the winner and runner-up of the Inter-University Championship.
Besides the four teams that have reached the quarter-final stage, the tournament will continue through this weekend to identify the remaining four quarter-finalists.
The tournament will continue towards its finale with the semi-finals set for April 7 and final on the following day.
Prior to the final next Sunday at 2.00pm, a women's match for the first time in history will take place during the morning.
The top 10 teams, picked from three different categories, competed on a double elimination basis prior to the knockouts.
The Division 'A' teams include Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Ranabima Royal BC and Old Royalists BC while the Division 'B' teams are Sri Lanka Air Force, Old Ananda BC, Siridhamma BC and Unawatuna BC.
Inter-University Championship winners Colombo and runners-up Kelaniya form the ten teams in contention.
