Baseball: Army win National League Championship

Sri Lanka Army scored an exciting 7/5 victory over Sri Lanka Navy in the finals of the Sri Lanka National Baseball League Championship 2018 played at the Diyagama Baseball Complex on Saturday (8).

Eight top teams of the island took part in this year's edition of the championship where the competition proved that the future of baseball look good with the performances exhibited by the competing teams.

H.E. Mr. Akira Sugiyama, the Japanesr Ambassador in Sri Lanka graced the the final day's play as the chief guest and distributed the awards.

Individual Awards:

Best Pitcher: Sugath De Silva (Army)

Best Fielder: Thushara Wickremasinghe (Navy)

Best Batter: Niroshan Sriyaratne (Army)

Player of the Match: Gayan Tharindu (Army)

Most Valuable Player: Gayan Tharindu (Army)
