Defending national billiards champion K.H. Sirisoma of Sri Lanka Ports Authority retained his title after beating S.H.M. Aslam of Moors Sports Club by six frames to one in the final of the National Billiards Championship played at the Sugathadasa Sports Hotel on Tuesday (2).
With the win Sirisoma creates a record of 24 wins, bettering the Sri Lankan billiards maestro M.J.M. Lafir’s record.
Lafir had won the national billiards title 18 times and Sirisoma’s record becomes a hard-to-beat one with the magnificent feat he created during his career which spans for nearly 35 years.
Sirisoma was unchallenged in the final as he won the first five frames with ease before Aslam bounced back to claim the sixth frame.
But Sirisoma sealed the victory by claiming the seventh frame in convincing style.
Result: K.H. Sirisoma (SLPA) beat S.H.M. Aslam (MSC) 6-1 (100/91, 100/51, 102/96, 103/88, 70/100, 100/85, 101/83)
