Mahanama College Colombo won the 43rd L.V. Jayaweera boxing championship 2016 organised by the Mahanama College OBA and conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Boxing Association held at the Mahanama College Boxing Ring.
The participation of schools from the north and east stole the limelight of this meet which was contested by over 400 boxers from 70 schools.
Vidyarathana University School Horana occupied the runner-up spot while Royal College finished as the second runner-up.
In a meet conducted in three age groups - 13-14, 15-16 and 17-18 Kasun Fernando of Mahanama College Colombo was adjudged the Best Boxer of the Meet and the Best Losers award went to G.C.M. Amarasinghe of Vidyartha College, Kandy.
