After his successful debut as Head Coach of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians, who won the 2017 title, Mahela Jayawardene has been roped in by the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Kulna Titans as Head Coach.
Jayawardene will be contracted for two seasons and will replace Australian Stuart Law, who took over West Indies.
"We were thrilled to see him win the IPL recently as the coach of the Mumbai Indians. I am sure all of us Titans will learn a lot from him and the tournament will be enriched by his presence," Kazi Inam Ahmed, the Kulna Titans Managing Director has told international media.
Jayawardene along with Kumar Sangakkara were featured in the BPL franchise Dhaka Dynamites during 2016 as players.
"I enjoyed playing in the BPL last year and that has given me a great insight into what will be required to be successful in the 2017 tournament," Jayawardene said in a statement.
The 2017 edition of BPL is set to begin on November 4 with eight teams in contention.
