A combined cricket team representing the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) schools has come down to Sri Lanka to engage in a 12-day tour to play six one day matches and a Twenty20 tournament. This tour part of a larger Toronto youth initiative titled Cricket Across the Pond (CAP) aimed at introducing cricket as a vehicle to reach out to youth and enhance social cohesion and interaction among young people. The programme uses cricket to build great sportsmanship, bridge cultural, ethnic and social divides and serve as a medium that empowers and unites the vastly diverse communities across the GTA. The CAP program is a partnership initiative between the City of Toronto and the Canadian Branch of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has interdicted Colombo Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadheera.
The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
