Minister of Transport and Highways and Homagama Regional Development Committee Chairman Bandula Gunawardana had refuted all of the allegations that involved the acquisition of alcohol licenses by him, his family, relatives, and political campaign staff.
In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, he stated that he has consistently opposed the Homagama polling division getting liquor licenses, as well as the meetings that were held within and outside the Homagama Regional Development Committee.
Minister Gunawardana said that despite this backdrop, he has knowledge that Mr. B.A.D. Chinthaka, the Homogama Divisional Secretary and participant in the meetings, has given the go-ahead for the issuance of a new liquor license.
The Minister has also requested a thorough investigation into Mr. Chinthaka’s handling of issuing liquor permits.
