Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced on Monday (22) evening that Limited Overs skipper Angelo Mathews has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing Tri-Nation Series in Bangladesh, while opener Kusal Perera too will be doubtful due to an injury.
"Sri Lanka team’s White-Ball Captain Angelo Mathews, who suffered a right hamstring tightness has returned to Sri Lanka and will not take part in the remainder of the ongoing ODI Tri-Series," SLC stated.
"His participation in the rest of the Bangladesh tour will depend on medical advice," it added.
While on Kusal Perera SLC revealed that he has been advised to rest by medical experts.
"Kusal Janith Perera is suffering from a side strain, which occurred while he was batting in the second match Sri Lanka played against Zimbabwe in the ongoing ODI Tri-Series. He is being asked to rest by the doctors and will miss the remainder of the ongoing ODI series".
SLC states that batsman Dhananjaya de Silva will be sent to Bangladesh as replacement for Kusal Perera.
