The Head of Coaching Department of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), Jerome Jayaratne, has been named the interim head coach of the Sri Lanka team after Marvan Atapattu stepped down.
Jayaratne’s appointment comes as Sri Lanka prepares to host West Indies in October.
Atapattu stepped down after Sri Lanka lost Test series against Pakistan and India in two of the country’s most disastrous home tours in recent years.
SLC confirmed Jayaratne’s appointment with an official media communiqué on Monday (7).
“Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce that SLC Head of Coaching Jerome Jayaratne, has been appointed as the Interim Head Coach of the Sri Lankan National Team with immediate effect for the upcoming West Indies Series in October/November 2015.”
