The upcoming Sri Lanka's tour of Zimbabwe which is scheduled to be held in October and November is likely to be replaced with a Triangular ODI series also featuring West Indies according to foreign reports.
The bilateral series, which was part of ICC's Future Tour Programme, included two Tests, three ODIs and a T20I, but it is said that Zimbabwe has no intentions in playing the longer version of the game.
The main reason behind this, according to reports, is the economic situation of Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC), who are struggling with growing amounts of debts.
ZC has restructured their domestic structure with its usual provincial-based competition after the franchise-based system to be a failure.
According to information ZC find it less profitable playing Test matches and they are keen on the shorter format of the game, which attracts more crowd to the venue.
Doing away the upcoming bilateral series against Sri Lanka would see Zimbabwe not playing Test matches until July 2017.
