The Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) closed nominations for its election of office bearers on June 6 and objections and appeals will be taken up on June 9.
The election will be held on July 1 at the Sports Ministry Auditorium.
In the annals of the history of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka the hottest Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Election of office bearers will take place on July 1 starting at 10.00am.
The venue is the Sports Ministry Auditorium.
With closing of the nominations, mudslinging has commenced in earnest privately and in pubic among the candidates.
According to FFSL there are 63 candidates who have forwarded their nominations with six candidates submitting their nominations for the post of president.
The list include incumbent president Anura de Silva, former president Ranjith Rodrigo, DIG Pathmasiri Munasinghe, Rtd DIG K.P.P. Pathirana, former Sri Lanka goal keeper Demodaran Chandrasiri and former Director Media Rukmal Perera.
According to sources objections have been made on four of the six candidates citing various reasons including the violation of the Sports Law.
Anura de Silva is levelled with the allegation that he has interfered with Immigration and Emigration Laws while the allegation against Ranjit Rodrigo is that he has not played football.
For the secretary’s post six names have been nominated and objections have been raised on four of them.
Only four vice presidents will be selected, but 16 have handed in their nominations.
