Sri Lanka Air Force and the Eagles’ Golf Links hosted the Commander’s Cup - 2017 Annual Golf Tournament, which was concluded in the picturesque settings of China Bay, close to the harbor city of Trincomalee.
The tournament, played under the ‘Handicap rules’ rules was open to all and started off at 8.30am with the participation of sixty three (63) enthusiastic golfers.
Ronan Hall won the Commander's Cup 2017 securing the highest marks in the Gents Division of 31points while Shirani Duffin won the Ladies' Trophy with a total score of 34 points.
Anura Balasooriya was placed the runner up of Gents Division with 29 points.
Ravindra Sathyajith Wijegunaratne and Zeng Nanhai received awards for the longest drive and for the closest to the pin respectively in the gents’ category, while Sheron Hall and Danny Hameed took the honours for the longest drive and the closest to the pin respectively in the ladies category.
The awards were given away at a gala awards night held at ‘Bay view’ restaurant of the Eagles’ Golf Links during the evening of the same day.
The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy was present on the links and at the evening's awards night to watch the golfers in action and to give away the awards.
Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Chief of Staff of SLAF Air Vice Marshal DLS Dias, Director Air Operations of SLAF and Chairman SLAF Golf Air Vice Marshal Sudharshana Pathirana, Director Electronic & Telecommunication Engineering Air Vice Marshal JP Wanigatunge, Director Logistics of SLAF Air Vice Marshal HMSKB Kotakadeniya, and Commandant SLAF Academy China Bay Air Vice Marshal PDKT Jayasinghe also participated in the tournament.
