Witchayanon Chothirunrungren and A. Yubol of Thailand won the Men’s and Women’s Championships respectively of the 128th Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship concluded at the Royal Colombo Golf Club on Saturday (5).
In the Men’s Championship, Witchayanon Chothirunrungren overcame stiff competition from Samarth Dwivedi of India to win 2 up in the 36 hole final.
The Timothy de Silva Trophy given in memory of the first Ceylonese winner of this championship in 1927, for the Best 2 day aggregate score was won by Sri Lanka’s Sisira Kumara.
In the Women’s Championship, A. Yubol beat R. Dilwari of India 7/6 to capture the title for 2015.
The International Team event was won by Thailand in both categories.
The Thais beat Pakistan in the Men’s segment while their Ladies outsmarted India to sweep the board in favour of them.
In the Women’s Handicap event played for the F. B. De Mel Trophy Kayla Perera beat Louise Parsons 2 up to walk out victorious.
