Hockey: More than 60 schools to feature in All-Island U-15 Championship

More than 60 schools have confirmed participation for the All-Island Boys’ and Girls’ Under-15 Hockey Championship, which will take place from Tuesday (27) to Saturday (31) at the Bernard Aluvihare Stadium and Edward Park in Matale.   According to the Vice President of the SLSHA Indrawansa Herath, 40 boys’ and 34 girls’ teams from Colombo, Kandy, Matale, Kegalle, Gampaha, Wennappuwa, Kalutara, Galle and Jaffna have already confirmed their participation.   Last year Joseph Vas College Wennappuwa clinched the boys’ title while Sri Summangala Balika Panadura annexed the girls’ title.   St. Thomas’ College Matale. Christ Church College, Vijaya College, Ananda College, St. Peter’s College, Nalanda College, Dharmaraja College, Kingswood College, Vidyartha College, St. Sylvester’s College, Dharmadutha College, St. Aloysius College, Maris Stella College, Joseph Vaz College and defending champions D.S. Senanayake College are the top contenders in the boys’ category.   From the girls category Seetha Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Panadura Balika Vidyalaya, St. Anthony’s Girls College Kandy, Pushpadana Girls College, Sangamittha Balika Vidyalaya, Christ Church College Matale, Yasodara Vidyalaya, Visakha Vidyalaya, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Samudra Devi Vidyalaya, Swarnamali BV Kandy, Musaeus College and St. Joseph’s BV, Kegalle and defending Sri Sumangala GS Panadura.
