Hockey: Maheswaran re-elected KDHA President for 7th consecutive year

Incumbent President R. Maheswaran was re-elected as the President of Kandy District Hockey Association (KDHA) at its Annual General Meeting held at the University Faculty Club in Peradeniya.
 
Maheswaran, a product of St. Sylvester's College Kandy, played in all age groups at College, and also represented Kandy Schools, Sri Lanka Schools and the University of Peradeniya. 

He also played for the Kandy Hockey and Football club, Kandy District and Central Provincial team. 

He led Kandy District at the Senior Hockey Nationals and then the Peradeniya University team for the Mini Olympics. 

He was the coach of his alma-mater for 21 years, from 1987-2007, and the Kandy District team from 1994-2004. 

He was KDHA Secretary from 1990-1994 and again from 1998-2008. 

He was first elected President of KDHA in 2009, and has held the post since then. Presently, he is the Vice President of the Sri Lanka Hockey Federation. 

On several occasions, Maheswaran was the Manager of the National men's and women's team on their overseas tours in India, Bangladesh, Thailand and Singapore. 

In 2002, he was the Manager cum Coach of the Sri Lanka University team at the inter University Hockey Tournament held in New Delhi. 

He was Sri Lanka's Representative at the Asian Hockey Federation Meetings held in India and Malaysia on several occasions. 

He also attended the FIH annual Congress held in Germany. Maheswaran, who is an Honours graduate of the Peradeniya University, is its Librarian.
