Singer-Matale Thomians Invitation Schools Hockey Sevens 2017 for boys Under-19 organised by Matale Old Thomians Hockey Association will get under way at Edward park hockey ground in Matale on Saturday (24) starting at 7.00am.
Singer Sri Lanka PLC has come forward as the main sponsor of this tournament with AVH distributors as the co-sponsor.
This one day tournament, which is the third in the series, will see 26 best schools hockey sides across the island in action and the winners are entitled to receive the “A.J. Wijesinghe” memorial challenge trophy.
The opening ceremony will be held on Saturday (24) at 6.30am with Kumar Samarasinghe direct of marketing singer Sri Lanka as the chief guest.
State minister of Agriculture and president of Matale district sports development council Wasantha Aluvihare will grace the presentation ceremony as the chief guest.
Justice L.T.B. Dehedeniya Judge of court of appeal and advisor to the Matale Old Thomian Hockey Association, Major General Shavendra Silva adviser to MOTHA, Sham Ramanadan Director Singer Finance and Annesly Michael Director Operation AVH distributors will be the guests of honour.
