Ind in SL: India takes a light day in pre-Test warm-up

The warm-up match between Sri Lanka Board President’s XI vs India ended in a draw after India declared their innings on 312 for 9 facing 68 overs at the CCC ground in Colombo on Saturday (22). 

The match was called off just 38 into day two after visitors got a decent match practice both with the bat and the ball. 

Indian batsmen all but opener Abhinav Mukund and Cheteshwar Pujara spent decent time in the middle after their bowlers enjoyed great success bowling hosts out for 187. 

Out of the nine wickets, four batsmen were retired out as they decided to walk back to the dressing room after making decent scores. 

India began the day two on their overnight score of 135 for 3 with skipper Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane remained unbeaten. 

Kohli scored a half century and decided to retire and Rahane (40) also walked off allowing other batsmen to get the much- needed match practice. 

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan scored 38 and 41 respectively before retiring. Wriddhiman Saha remained unbeaten on 36 while Hardik Pandya was dismissed for 11 runs before India declared their innings. 

Vishwa Fernando and Tharindu Kaushal claimed two wickets apiece in the match. 

On day one, India bowlers led by Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja ripped through the Sri Lankan innings sharing seven wickets between them to bowl the hosts out for 187 runs. 

Danushka Gunathilaka top scored with 74 while Lahiru Thirimanne made 59. 

The first test between will begin on Wednesday (26) in Galle.
