Ind in SL: Rain spoils first day’s play at SSC

Play was called off for the first day a short while ago in the third and final Test between Sri Lanka and India began at the SSC today (28).   India were two wickets down at 50 in 15 overs when rain stopped play during the first session as play was called after weather didn’t improve.   Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bowl as India lost two quick wickets before play was stopped.   Two wicketkeeper/batsmen made their Test debuts in this match -- Naman Ohja for India and Kusal Perera for Sri Lanka.   In addition Cheteshwar Pujara comes in for injured Murali Vijay in the Indian lineup.   Sri Lanka has made two changes by dropping out Jehan Mubarak and Dushmantha Chameera for Upul Tharanga and Nuwan Pradeep.   At stumps Day 1   India 50 for 2 wickets (15) (Cheteshwar Pujara 19n.o, Virat Kohli 14n.o.) vs Sri Lanka   India: Cheteshwar Pujara, Lokesh Rahul, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (Capt), Namal Ohja (wk), Stuart Binny, Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav.   Sri Lanka: Dimuth Karunaratne, Kaushal Silva, Upul Tharanga, Lahiru Thirimanne, Angelo Mathews (Capt), Dinesh Chandimal, Kusal Perera (wk), Dhammika Prasad, Rangana Herath, Tharindu Kaushal, Nuwan Pradeep.
