Netball: Forty teams qualify from Matale and Badulla

The qualifying tournament of the 24th All-Island Milo Schools Netball Championship is in progress now around the island which is being conducted at 15 centres.   The centers where the qualifying tournaments are being held are -- Ampara. Kandy, Matale, Anuradhapura, Kurunegala, Jaffna, Kalutara, Homagama, Ratnapura, Puttlam, Galle, Badulla, Matara, Gampaha and Colombo.   Two qualifying tournaments have been completed which were in Badulla and Matale districts.   The Badulla tournament was held at the Bandarawela Public grounds while the Matale tournament was held at the Sri Sangamitta BV grounds.   Twenty four teams qualified in the Badulla district which comprised of four and two teams each in the Under-14, 16 and 18 from the Division A and B respectively and six teams in the Under-13 age group.   Sixteen teams qualified in the Matale district with four each from the Division ‘A’ Under-14 and 16 and two from the Under-18 age group and the same amount of teams in the Division ‘B’ category.   The 24th All-Island Milo Schools Netball Championship conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Netball Association and sponsored by Nestle Lanka will see over 400 teams being selected for the finals in the four age groups after the completion of the qualifying tournaments.   After the completion of the qualifying tournaments the finals of the championship will be held over three days on July 25, 26 and 27 at the Bernard Aluvihare Stadium in Matale.   Badulla District Qualifiers: Under-13: Kudakusum BV Bandarawela, Viharamahadevi Vidyalaya, Visakha High School Badulla, Keppitipola Balika, Uva Vidya Vidyalaya, Sangamitta MV. Under-14A: Bandarawela Central, Kudakusum BV Bandarawela, Viharamahadevi Vidyalaya, Malwethana MMV Wellawaya. Under-14B: Walhaputhenna MV Haldemulla, Uva Vidya Vidyalaya. Under-16A: Kudakusum BV Bandarawela, Bandarawela Central, Bandarawela MMV, Viharamahadevi Vidyalaya, Visakha HS Badulla, Keppitipola MV. Under-16B: Walhaputhenna MV Haldemulla, Ranjan Wijeratne MV Buttala. Under-18A: Kudakusum BV Bandarawela, Bandarawela Central, Bandarawela MMV, Viharamahadevi Vidyalaya, Visakha HS Baduula. Under-18B: Walhaputhenna MV Haldemulla, Sri Ratnasena MV Borages.   Matale District Qualifiers: Under-14A: St. Joseph’s BV Gampola, Sri Sangamitta Vidyalaya Matale, Vijaya NS Matale, Christ Church College Matale. Under-14B: Bauddha Vidyalaya Gampola, Bandarapola MV Matale. Under-16A: St. Joseph’s BV Gampola, Wijeyapala MV ‘A’ Matale, Wijeyapala MV ‘B’ Matale, Sri Sangamiththa Vidyalaya Matale. Under-16B: Bauddha Vidyalaya Gampola, Bandarapola MV Matale. Under-18A: Wijeyapala MV Matale, Sri Sangamiththa Vidyalaya Matale. Under-18B: Bandarapola MV Matale, Bauddha Vidyalaya Gampola.
