Holy Family Convent Kurunegala emerged the Milo schools overall champions for the tenth successive year at the 26th Milo All Island Schools Netball Championship concluded at the Vincent Dias Stadium in Badulla on Saturday (5).
The Kurunegala girls secured the overall champions in style when they won the Under-13 and Under-19 age group titles defeating Girl’s High School Kandy and Viskha Vidyalaya Colombo in the two finals that they qualified and then took the third place in the Under-17 category which was sufficient for them to clinch the overall title for the tenth successive year.
The Familians were first crowned netball queens in the year 2008 when it was held in their hometown in Kurunegala and then retained it by winning it in 2009 at Anuradhapura and followed it up clinching the title in (Matale), 2010 (Matara) (2011), Polonnaruwa (2012), Piliyandala (2013), Beliatta (2014), Matale (2015) and in Matara last year .
Apart from emerging the overall champions two of their players bagged the most outstanding players award namely Dulanjali Nirupama Fernando (Under-13) and R.M.S. Kumari Bandara (Under-19) while Dilakshi Ravihari of Kalutara BV and Sanudi Thuduwage of Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo were adjudged the most outstanding players in the Under-15 and Under 17 age groups.
Meanwhile in the Division ‘B’ category Holy Family Convent Kelaniya emerged champions in Under-13 category while Bandarapola MV Matale the Under-17 champions and Ranjan Wijeratne MV Buttala the Under-19 champions.

Under-15: Museaus College beat St Bridget’s Convent 18/15. Kalutara BV beat Holy Cross Gampaha 16/15. Maliyadeva BV Kurunegala beat Sirimavo Bandaranayake BV 20/7.
Under-17: Kalutara BV beat Dehiattakandiya National School 23/22. Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo beat Hillwood College Kandy 35/19.
Under-19: Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo beat Gothami BV Colombo 33/15. Holy Family Convent Kurunegala beat Holy Family Convent Kalutara 30/19.
