Matara District overcame Ratnapura District 28 points to 20 points to emerge Champions at the All island inter district Men's Netball Championship held at the German-Sri Lanka Football ground at Uyanwatta. The championship was organised by Unity Sports Club of Matara. Six Men's Netball teams from the Districts of Gampaha, Galle, Matara, Monaragala, Ratnapura and Hambantota participated at the tournament proving that the traditionally female game was fast becoming a popular male sport as well. Chamara Madhusanka was named ‘Best Player’ of the Championship while M.N. Gunasinghe was named the ‘Best Attacker’ and A.A.R. Vipulasiri was named the ‘Best Defender’. The Matara District Men’s netball team led by Chamara Roshan comprised of M.Z.M. Rafhan, Sujith Dhammika, Budhdhika Dilan, Ranchintha Lakshan, M.P.S. Fernando, A.M.N. Gunasinghe, Chamara Madhusanka and Omega Madushan. The team was coached by Miss A.B. Asokha.
