CR&FC staged a clinical performance to overcome CH&FC by 46-29 in a quarter-final match of the Dialog Clifford Cup Knockout Tournament played at the Racecourse ground today (17).
With the win CR easily advanced to the semi-final stage of the Knockout Tournament and prevented CH from beating them for the third consecutive time this season.
At halftime CR led 22-15 and accelerated in the second half to score a total of seven tries, four conversions and a penalty.
CH scored from four tries, three conversions and a penalty.
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
