The Lanka Lions Rugby Club made an impressive outing prior to the Dubai Rugby Sevens Tournament by winning the Cup championship in the first round of the Eden Park Sevens Series played at the Dubai Sports City.
The Lanka Lions topped their pool with impressive wins against Mediclinic Barrel House 21-7, Beaver Nomads 28-14and Dubai Hurricanes II 35-7.
They thrashed UAE Shaheen 38-0 in the semi-final and went on to beat South Africa Conquistadors 28-0 in the Cup final.
The tournament organised by the UAE Rugby Federation will host the second leg of the tournament on Friday (27).
