Kandy Sports Club, the defending Dialog League Championship title holders, beat Singapore convincingly by 44-14 in friendly match played at Nittawela on Saturday (21).
The Singapore side was a mixture of some Singaporeans and many expatriates.
However, save for the last few minutes when Kandy benched some of their stars, they didn’t quite measure up to the local side who won almost as they liked.
Fazil Marija touched down twice for Kandy while Richard Dharmapala scored what was probably the try of the day, scorching through 50 yards and brushing off three or four tackles.
Anuruddha Wilwara, Dhanushka Ranjan and Damien Ratwatte scored a try each.
Ratwatte and Arshad Jamaldeen made the conversions.
Australian Johnson Darber and Peter Williams touched down for the visitors.
Darber successfully put over two conversions.
The match was refereed by Priyantha Gunaratne.
