The National Selectors of Sri Lanka Rugby Union (SLRU) have picked 74 players for the initial squad preparing for the upcoming Asian Rugby Championship Division I Tournament to be held in Malaysia.
The squad includes 22 players from the double championship title winning Kandy SC.
CR and FC will be represented by 13 players while 16 have been picked from Havelocks SC.
A total of 15 players from the Navy SC, seven from Police SC and one from Army SC have been named to the initial squad, while none from Air Force SC and CH and FC have been considered by the selectors.
Sri Lanka will play against Philippines, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates at the Asiad which will be played on May 14, 17 and 20 in Malaysia.
The selected pool will start training under the watchful eyes of newly appointed head coach in former Papua New Guinea national sevens coach Fereti Verabula together with High performance Director Inthisham Marikkar at the Race Course International Stadium in Reid Avenue, Colombo.
