Western Province beat Central Province by 17-12 to win the Rugby 7s Cup Championship of the National Sports Festival at the Racecourse ground in Colombo on Sunday (11).
Western Province collected their points from two converted tries and a penalty while Central Province recorded two tries and made a conversion for their points.
The Women's Cup title was won by Southern Province, who beat Sabaragamuwa Province by 17 to 12.
The winner scored from two converted tries and a penalty to two tries and a conversion recorded by the losers as Western Province secured the third place in the Women’s Championship.
Western Province's Rukmal Fernando won the award for the Men’s Best Player while Southern Province's P. Dulani won the Women’s Best Player title.
In the Men’s Plate Championship final Southern Province beat Sabaragamuwa Province 10-7 in a hard-fought game to emerge victorious.
North Western Province thrashed North Central Province by 31-10 to win the Men’s Bowl title as Northern Province secured the Shield Championship, beating Uva Province by 5-0.
