The Sri Lanka Association of Senior Citizens will conduct the All-Island Senior Citizens Scrabble Tournament for the 17th consecutive year on October 22 at the Colombo Hilton.
Play will be conducted in two categories – “A” for competitors vying for the championship and the Deshabandu Clara Motwani Trophy, who will use the Chambers Scrabble Dictionary 1015.
Players who prefer the old traditional style of play will be in the “B” category using words from the Oxford English Dictionary only.
The tournament is open to Sri Lankans over the age of 50.
Entry forms can be obtained from Mrs. Delryn Wijesinghe, 27 Ridgeway Place, Bambalapitiya (Phone: 2587094) or Mrs. Indrani Atukorale,102/1 Dharmapala Mawatha, Colombo 7 (Phone: 2696993).
Late entries will be accommodated until October 20 but a late fee of Rs. 50 will be charged.
In addition to several trophies and merit awards will be given at each of the games that will be played.
